• Corporate Finance Deal of the Year
• ICAEW Chartered Accountant of the Year

December 12, 2013: PwC, the leading accountancy and consulting firm, took home two awards at the ICAEW’s third annual Middle East Accountancy & Finance Excellence Awards ceremony held in Abu Dhabi. PwC won “Corporate Finance Deal of the Year” for the third year in a row and PwC Partner, Amanda Line, was named “ICAEW Chartered Accountant of the Year.” Organized by the Middle East branch of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW), the ceremony saw the region’s most qualified leaders in the industry celebrate excellence in the accountancy and finance industry.

“Corporate Finance Deal of the Year” was awarded to Emirates Global Aluminum (EGA) and PwC for their advisory role in the creation of EGA through the merger of Dubai Aluminum (DUBAL) and Emirates Aluminum (EMAL).

EGA is well on its way to becoming the fifth-largest aluminum company in the world, with an aggregate enterprise value of more than USD $15 billion.

On the award Richard Rollinshaw, PwC Partner, commented “We are very proud to have been closely involved in this landmark transaction.” Adding “ The successful merger is the fruit of intense collaboration on the part of both management teams with a common vision of the creation of a sizable and well invented national champion in the global aluminum industry.”

The celebrations continued with Amanda Line, PwC’s Academy Partner, being recognised as the “ICAEW Chartered Accountant of the Year” for championing the role of finance professionals in the region and promoting the importance of financial knowledge and skills training. The award reflected Amanda’s commitment to supporting the development of talent in the finance industry, as well as her leadership skills.

Commenting on this proud moment Hani Ashkar, PwC’s Middle East Senior Partner, said “These awards reflect PwC’s strong commitment to driving forward the accountancy and finance profession in the Middle East and is testament to the efforts of our people. We at PwC measure our success by our ability to create the value that our clients, our people and communities are looking for.”

Adding “We are committed to supporting sustainable growth of our talent across the region. Through team work, our exceptional staff  strive to develop innovative approaches that can always empower our client base as well as maintain positive team sentiment.”
