Riga, Latvia - 7 June 2013.

Every year, PwC brings together teams from many of its network firms across Europe for their annual squash tournament.  The event aims to foster goodwill, good times and good health among PwC employees.

This year, PwC Russia hosted the event, but due to a lack of available squash courts in Russia, they organised the championship in neighbouring Latvia.  They played on 8 courts in "Zelta bowling" in Riga.

Arseniy Musikhin, Assurance Director from PwC Russia and the organiser of the tournament commented:  “Riga was a great location for the event.  We’d like to thank the Latvian Squash Federation and PwC Latvia for their support in making it happen.”

Fourteen teams from ten countries - Germany, United Kingdom, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Luxembourg, Hungary, Norway, Austria and Russia - challenged and learned from each other over the weekend. First place went to PwC Germany, with second and third place going to teams from PwC UK and fourth place to PwC Russia.

Ahmed Sharkh, Country Managing Partner  at PwC Latvia, commented:  “This squash tournament and other such sporting events are a great chance to bring people together in friendly competition and give them a chance to network with colleagues from other countries.  We work hard, so it’s important to take time to be active and have fun.”

Teams left Latvia with great memories and are already training for next year’s tournament in Vienna, Austria.
