PwC supports social business project BlindArt

08/01/18

This is the second year that PwC and PwC Legal experts have provided professional advice to BlindArt SIA in an effort to support social business endeavours.

In December 2017, our efforts were crowned with a considerable result – BlindArt SIA became the first to receive a social business grant in Latvia, and the €20,000 funding will help them continue integrating visually impaired people in the labour market.

PwC professionals provided pro bono business advice on planning and implementing cash flow solutions relevant to a social business project application for a grant funding programme, thus supporting the BlindArt initiative to market a new line of fashion and interior design products with visually impaired people employed in their production cycle.

“By working with BlindArt, we wish to support the government’s social business programme aimed at improving the quality of life and promoting the employment of people facing the risk of social exclusion. We are truly satisfied with and proud of the BlindArt team, who are ready to take on and carry out the social business idea of creating quality interior and fashion products despite all the risks inherent in business. BlindArt are a dedicated, brave and ambitious team capable of carrying out the social business programme abroad as well as in Latvia!”

Raitis Zeltins, a senior consultant at PwC Deals and Financial Advisory says:

BlindArt is a social business idea aimed at supporting people with vision impairments and special needs, encouraging them to strive for greater achievements, and creating favourable conditions for the development of social business.

The BlindArt project was launched in Latvia in 2007, when early creative workshops and exhibitions were held. There are similar initiatives in other parts of the world, where people with vision impairments and special needs create valuable works of art for the wider community.
