ALM Intelligence recognises PwC’s Deals Practice as a Vanguard Leader in Divestitures Consulting

PwC was announced as a leader in Divestitures Consulting by ALM Intelligence, a company that assesses consulting firms in defined markets on the basis of their breadth and depth of service capabilities and momentum. Divestitures Consulting includes sales, carve-outs, spin-offs, initial public offerings (IPOs) and other disassociations. PwC leads in breadth of services of the consulting companies compared in the report.

Being assessed as a “leader” is defined as a practice at the top of the market in terms of capabilities to create client impact through their depth of expertise and ability to deploy it across a range of engagement models. Leaders are unique in their ability to independently execute end-to-end projects across the full spectrum of client contexts. They range from providers to top quintile in terms of depth of capability for low-complexity engagement models to those that combine above-average depth of capability, with the ability to deploy it across the high-complexity engagement models.

The author of the report, Tomek Jankowski, highlights PwC’s strengths, stating that “PwC has been able to wed strategy and technology effectively, using the latter to inform the former throughout the process from sell-side due diligence to implementation, and beyond. Anecdotally, several on the client-side have noted that PwC’s overall team coherence and cross-team cooperation have improved in recent years.”

Tomek goes on to say that “PwC is a full-service, end-to-end provider in the M&A space and has, by headcount, the largest deals practice.  As the divestiture space becomes more crowded and, PwC makes its play around strategy in its Strategy& unit and a growing array of technology tools. For tech tools, PwC puts a strong emphasis on integrating those technology tools into the workflow, enabling and enhancing productivity, collaboration, and relying strongly on analytics tools (in-house, exclusive JBRs, brand name data visualisation tools, etc.). On the operational side, services include Divestiture Strategy, Tax Structuring, Multi-functional due diligence, Capital markets & accounting, the Transaction services agreements, and operational separation.”
