"In small law firms lawyers manage their knowledge almost instinctively, but this breaks down as soon as practices grow and organisations become larger and more complex. Although technologies may reduce the problems by enhancing lawyers’ abilities, they often are a mere patch that fails to solve the underlying issues. To fully realise economies of scale and scope, lower risks, and provide clients with the global, cross-disciplinary and complex advice they need, legal organisations should reengineer the way they work. That is what Legal Knowledge Management is all about."
