What prompted you to apply for a Deals career rather than a pure STEM career?

I have always been fascinated by Physics, but I wanted some exposure to business and to understand how industries such as Life Sciences, Energy, and Health and Pharmaceutical operate. A career in Deals has provided me with an ideal middle ground between science and business.

What advice would you give to other women considering a career in Deals?

As clichéd as it sounds, my advice would be, have confidence in yourself! As a graduate I’m expected to be inquisitive and ask a lot of questions. Acknowledging that I won’t know all the answers, making myself speak up and ask for help when needed has proved to be highly beneficial to me.

Confidence goes beyond just technical capabilities. Having the confidence to communicate my priorities (both work and non-work related) is equally, if not more beneficial. I have the freedom to work on my schedule, something I had not expected as a junior member of the team.

Back to There’s science behind the deal

“I have a different mindset, which is a good thing, as it means I focus on areas that others haven’t thought about. I’m able to bring a fresh perspective. If you can look at things from different angles, you add value along the entire Deal cycle and that’s a real asset.”
