Helping foreign workers through Contact Tracer and telemedicine

Dr Zubin J. Daruwalla - PwC Singapore

When the pandemic hit, Singapore saw a rise in infectious cases in foreign worker dormitories. To curb the spread of the virus and keep workers safe, a single source of data collection to track workers' location within dormitories was needed as well as an integrated telemedicine platform to ensure that foreign workers have continued access to medical care.

Dr Zubin J. Daruwalla is PwC Singapore's Health Industries Leader, who already provides telemedicine care in his free time. He worked with his team and colleagues from the Experience Centre and together they piloted PwC’s Contact Tracer solution and platform - pro bono - for a foreign worker dormitory owner. This enabled real time location tracking, contact tracing and social distancing data which was essential for key decision making.

Separately, Dr Daruwalla and his team supported healthcare authorities in developing a national telemedicine platform, again pro bono. PwC’s support came in several forms, including pulling together industry players across both public and private sectors which contributed to the speedy completion of the project in just eight weeks.”
