On March 8 every year, International Women’s Day is celebrated across the globe to recognise and showcase the economic, political and social achievements of women. To help stimulate a broader conversation on gender diversity, we feel it’s vital that organisations focus on providing talented women with the opportunities and experiences they need to progress and grow throughout their careers. Organisations are using international mobility experiences to develop future leaders and advance the careers of key talent across the globe. Yet despite unprecedented demand, women currently account for only 20% of international assignees.
To increase the representation of women in leadership, there is clearly an urgent imperative to create more gender inclusive mobility. Today’s diversity disconnect must be addressed if international organisations are to utilise the full capabilities of their workforce, develop a succession pipeline that reflects the talent within their wider employee population, and reap the benefits that flow from having more diverse leadership.
To realise these benefits, organisations must first understand the current trends in mobility, diversity and talent management, and the perspectives of female employees. To help them gain these insights, this year we’ve decided to mark International Women’s Day with the theme Modern mobility: Moving women with purpose.
