CEE countries must intensify their exchange of best practices to successfully combat VAT fraud
Officials from the ministries of finance and economy of five CEE countries (Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Slovakia) have called for a joint approch to combat VAT fraud and increase VAT collection in a conference hosted today by PwC in Budapest.

PwC FY15 global revenues increase 10% to US$ 35.4 billion
The PwC network reported total global gross revenues of US$35.4 billion for the fiscal year ended on 30 June 2015. At constant exchange rates, PwC's total global revenues rose by 10%. This is up markedly from the previous year and the strongest year-on-year growth that the network has seen since FY07. Growth was strong across all lines of business and in all geographic regions.

Uwe Schwalm is a new German Business Group leader in the Czech Republic
Uwe Schwalm takes over roles and responsibilities as Assurance Partner and German Business Group in PwC Czech Republic as of April 2015. He will be also in charge of key German clients in the CEE region.

Ice Hockey World Championship: Home advantage will bring the Czechs gold, they will beat Russia in the final
The consulting firm PwC analysed the conditions of every country for success in the Ice Hockey World Championship that starts May 1 in Prague. Statistical analysis that took into account, besides other things, historical results at championships in the last 20 years, the number of stadiums, the number of ice hockey players registered, demographic and economic indicators or the average annual temperature favours the host - Czech Republic.

Petr Kříž appointed President of the Federation of European Accountants
Petr Kříž, partner of PwC Czech Republic, was appointed President of the Federation of European Accountants (FEE) by its Members Assembly.

PwC CZ strengthens its activities in Moravia
Jaroslav Mitáš was appointed as a director of the PwC Czech Republic office in Brno from July 2014. The Ostrava office will be led by Michal Stránský from August 2014. The advisory and auditing services for Moravian clients have been led up to now by Marek Richter. Marek is going to lead the Financial Institutions Audit department for PwC CR from July 2014.

PwC elects a new CEO, Olga Grygier-Siddons, and appoints a regional leadership team for Central and Eastern Europe
PwC has appointed a new regional CEO and leadership team to lead its network of firms across Central and Eastern Europe (CEE). The appointments take effect on 1 July 2014. PwC’s Central and Eastern European network includes 8000 people in 52 offices across 29 countries.

Michael Mullen, a new PwC Legal equity partner
Michael Mullen, PwC CEE Legal Leader, has been appointed an equity partner of PwC Legal. He also acts as a statutory representative of the company. Michael will share his long-term experience and expertise in corporate law, property law and M&A with PwC Legal clients in the Czech Republic in addition to his services to regional clients in his role as CEE Legal Leader.
