What problem is the innovation trying to solve?

“Although Canadians have connections with and empathy for military families, many are unaware of the struggles of physically and mentally injured servicemen and women. There were gaps in general awareness of post-traumatic stress injury and its impact on military families. Canadians needed an outlet for their empathy.”

— Michael Burns, CEO, Invictus Games Toronto 2017

The innovation:

“The Invictus Games were created, with Prince Harry as patron, to shine a light on the challenges of wounded warriors and the role that sport plays in their rehabilitation journey. The Toronto 2017 Invictus Games had an opportunity to engage the nation and transform empathy into empowerment.”
