Saskatchewan - 2022-23 budget released: The Saskatchewan government released its 2022‑23 budget, projecting a deficit of $463 million. The budget does not change personal or corporate income tax rates, but does: (i) enhance the Saskatchewan Technology Start‑up Incentive by increasing the tax credit cap from $2.5 million to $3.5 million, effective April 1, 2022; (ii) increase the tax credit rate for the Saskatchewan Value‑added Agriculture Incentive for higher levels of investment (from 15% to 30% on the portion of a project between $400 million and $600 million, and to 40% on the portion of a project exceeding $600 million in value), retroactive to the start of the program in 2018, capping the dollar value of the tax credit at $250 million; (iii) apply provincial sales tax (PST) to admission and entertainment charges (e.g. tickets for sporting events, concerts, museums, fairs and movies, in addition to gym memberships and golfing green fees), effective October 1, 2022 (exemptions are available for children’s activities and activities run by schools and not‑for‑profit organizations); and (iv) exempt the sale of audio books from PST, effective April 1, 2022.
