This website is for customers having done business with “Vacances Sinorama Inc.” or any other travel agency from the province of Quebec (having a legal operating permit delivered by the Office) for a travel that has to be done with “Vacances Sinorama Inc.” from the province of Quebec. Customers having done business with a travel agency which does not hold a valid Quebec permit must communicate with their travel agency.

Status of file as of November 28, 2018

The claim process is on-going. We are currently analyzing claims that were received before, or on, August 24, 2018.

Reimbursement of the FICAV when you receive from a third party (credit card, travel agency or other) a refund of travel services purchased from Sinorama:

  • If you receive such a refund BEFORE having received the approval confirmation of your claim filed with the FICAV, you must communicate without delay with Groupe Bruneau/EPIQ by email at info@reclamationsinorama.ca, to inform them about the received amount.

–  If you received a full refund of your travel, your file will be closed.

–  If you received a partial amount, it will be deducted from the amount refundable by the FICAV, in accordance with the eligibility criteria in effect. You will receive the balance.

  • If you receive such a refund AFTER having received a refund from the FICAV, please issue a personal cheque to “Groupe Bruneau Inc.”. The amount of this cheque must be equal to the refund for travel services you received from the third-party. Please mention your claim number as a reference.

Email notification:

Claimants should regularly check their email inbox, including the « junk mail » folder. Emails are sent to them to inform about:

  • the status of their claim, when the analysis is completed;
  • documents or information to be provided, that are necessary for the analysis of the file.

Status of file as of October 4, 2018

The claims process has started. Claims are processed, to the extent possible, in the order they are received. We are currently analyzing claims that were received before, or on, August 15, 2018. This information will be updated regularly.

The steps of the process are as follows :

  1. An acknowledgment of receipt is sent by email to the claimant.

    If you sent a refund request over 3 weeks ago and have still not received an acknowledgment of receipt, 1) first, please check the spam folder in your email inbox; 2) if, after having checked your spam folder, you still do not have your acknowledgment of receipt, please contact Epiq Class Action Services Canada Inc. at  1-844-562-4210 or info@reclamationsinorama.ca
  2. After the analysis of your claim, you will receive an email informing you on the status of your claim:
  • Notice of incomplete file :  if your claim file is incomplete, you will be asked to provide the missing information and/or documents. Please make sure to respond promptly to this request. Complete and compliant files are processed on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are depleted for this event.
  • Acceptance notice : you will receive a detailed message with the amount to be received. A detailed calculation of this amount will be provided indicating the amounts not covered under the FICAV refund policy. The cheque will be issued and mailed to the address indicated on the claim form within 15 to 30 days after the acceptance notice is sent.
  • Rejection notice : you will receive a message informing you of the reason(s) for rejecting your claim. No cheque will be issued.

All trips to Europe and Asia up to September, 9, 2018 (inclusive) are confirmed (please refer to section “Confirmed trips” to know the alternate travel agency).

Pre-departure meetings:

  • In Montréal (998, boul.Saint-Laurent, Montréal. QC H2Z 9Y9):
    We inform the travelers that the pre-departure meetings scheduled in Montréal on August 11 and 12 are confirmed at the place and time which were already communicated to you. This meeting is for people who still want to travel. Should you decide to cancel your travel, you do not have to attend this meeting.
  • In Québec: the pre-departure meetings scheduled in Québec are cancelled. We invite people who should attend and who still want to travel (for a travel on September 9, 2018 at the latest) to communicate with Sinorama at 1 888 579 5519 to obtain their travel documents.

Please note that the Claim Form has been updated and does not require anymore to be signed in presence of a Commissioner for Oaths (see section « Claims »).

The Claim Forms already printed and/or filed with the former format remain valid and it is not necessary to reprint/re-file a claim.

Status of file as of August 7, 2018

The Delegated President of the Office de la protection du consommateur (“OPC”) announced her decision, effective today, to withdraw Vacances Sinorama Inc.'s travel agent permit. We refer you to the OPC communique dated August 7, 2018 for more information (https://www.opc.gouv.qc.ca/actualite/communiques/).

The Provisional Administrator will make sure that all the trips scheduled until September 9, 2018 will take place. However, if travelers do not want to travel anymore, they will be able to obtain the refund of the amount paid for the purchase of their travel.

All customers who have made a purchase from Vacances Sinorama Inc. and that had to travel as of September 10, 2018 or later will get a refund on presentation of supporting documents. The Provisional Administrator will follow up on all claims.

To file a claim and obtain a refund, you must download the Claim Form attached to the “Claims” section of this website and return it once completed, together with the supporting documents and duly signed in presence of a Commissioner for Oaths, to PwC Inc., Provisional Administrator (please refer to Sections 4, 7and 8 of the Claim Form).

Status of file as of August 3, 2018

Confirmation/cancellation of trips:

Bus tours: Bus tours are confirmed at least until August 31, 2018, except for those listed in the "Cancelled Trips" section. These were cancelled according to Sinorama's cancellation policy due to an insufficient number of travelers.

Cancelled bus tours will be reimbursed according to the terms included in the contract.

Travel to China / Europe: Trips to China and Europe are confirmed at least until August 31, 2018. Travelers will be contacted personally either by the Provisional Administrator or a representative of Vacances Sinorama Inc. to confirm the terms and conditions of their trip.

Status of file as of July 24, 2018

On July 24, 2018, the Delegated President of the Office de la protection du consommateur (“OPC”), Me Danielle Pelletier, rendered a decision appointing PricewaterhouseCoopers Inc. (“PwC”) as Provisional Administrator of Vacances Sinorama Inc. (“Sinorama”) in order to continue or terminate the company's current business. 

The OPC took this initiative following Sinorama's failure to comply with the requirements of the Travel Agents Act in connection with the management of amounts paid to it by its clients. The OPC plans to withdraw Sinorama's travel agent permit.

Sinorama has until August 3, 2018 to appeal the OPC's decision. Until further notice, no reservations will be made by Sinorama.

As a result of the high volume of calls received, PwC has taken the initiative to make available to Sinorama clients, on its website, a Frequently Asked Questions (“FAQ”).
