Canada's CFO of the Year 2017 award nominations now open

TORONTO, October, 13, 2016 – Now in its 16th year, Canada’s CFO of the Year™ (CFOY) Award honours senior financial leaders who have made significant contributions to business in Canada with demonstrated quality, insight and integrity. Nominations are now being accepted at www.cfoy.ca for the 2017 Canada's CFO of the Year™ Award and will close on December 16, 2016.

Candidates from any business sector may be nominated and demonstrate the following six award criteria including:

  • Inspirational Leadership
  • Business Performance
  • Social Responsibility
  • Innovation
  • Demonstrating Financial Accountability
  • Mentoring and Development

The purpose of the award, that is presented by Financial Executives International Canada (FEI Canada), PwC and Robert Half, is to recognize those who best exemplify the evolving role of the CFO, a strategic member of the C-suite.

An independent selection committee, chaired by previous award recipient Bruce Waterman, including some of Canada’s most prominent business leaders, will select the award winner. The recipient of Canada’s CFO of the Year™ Award will be honoured at a gala dinner at The Ritz Carlton, Toronto on Wednesday, May 17, 2017.

  • 2016 – Gord Nelson, Chief Financial Officer of Cineplex Inc.
  • 2015 – Dean McCann, Executive Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer, Canadian Tire Corp. Ltd.
  • 2014 – Janice Fukakusa, Chief Administration Officer and Chief Financial Officer, RBC
  • 2013 – Brian Lawson, Senior Managing Partner and Chief Financial Officer, Brookfield Asset Management
  • 2012 – Colleen Johnston, Group Head Finance and Chief Financial Officer, TD Bank Group
