At PwC, our purpose is to build trust in society and solve important problems. In sharing our approach to diversity and inclusion and what we've learned in our journey, we hope to inspire our people, clients and community to join us in harnessing the power of our diversity.
In April 2014, we launched Aspire to Lead: The PwC Women’s Leadership Series — a global forum focused on women and leadership. The series brings focus and guidance around how women can navigate the transition from campus to career.
In early 2016, we delivered our third Aspire to Lead webcast, where viewers heard Geena Davis, award-winning actor and founder of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media, give a keynote speech on the empowerment and advancement of women. This was followed by a panel discussion with Geena as well as Dawn Hudson, CEO of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, Jennifer Yuh Nelson, Academy Award nominee and director, and Peter Yobo, PwC US Advisory Senior Associate. The panellists discussed parallels between gender portrayals in the media, the role of women in the workplace and how women and men can take action to support gender equality.
In February 2015, we hosted our second global webcast titled “The Confidence to Lead”, focusing on the question, "What would you do if you were not afraid?" This event featured authors Katty Kay and Claire Shipman, Eileen Naughton, Managing Director of Google UK and Ireland, and Mike Fenlon, PwC’s Global and US Talent Leader. The event took place live from our London office, with around 200 students attending.
The series kicked off with a live webcast featuring Facebook COO, LeanIn.Org founder and author of Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead, Sheryl Sandberg, and LeanIn.Org President, Rachel Thomas. As business leaders, Sheryl and Rachel offered tips to graduates on finding the right job, negotiating your first salary and succeeding in your career.
