We will discuss how the region’s business leaders are taking action to overcome challenges and what decisions they still need to take to strengthen their roles and reinvent their businesses for the future.

When: Friday, 17 March 2022, 10:30-11:30 CET

What: CEO Survey results presentation and panel discussion on the CEE executives  role in addressing the tough challenges faced by our societies. We will also focus on opportunities to transform their organisations, while meeting challenges including geopolitical conflict, high inflation and economic instability.

The discussion will be hosted by PwC Central and Eastern Europe CEO Adam Krasoń, and moderated by Kasia Madera, BBC News host and presenter. We will be joined by special guests:

Our 26th Annual Global CEO Survey tracks the responses of 4,410 CEOs in 105 countries and territories, including 99 business leaders from the CEE region. We believe the data in this survey can be a powerful tool for them, highlighting priority areas for change and helping them chart a course of action.

This year’s responses indicate that CEE chief executives are very pessimistic about global economic growth. Nearly three-quarters (74%) of CEOs in Central & Eastern European believe global economic growth will decline over the next 12 months.

Despite pessimistic macro conditions, CEOs are quite confident when it comes to their own company’s revenue growth prospects over the next 12 months, with 46% saying they’re “extremely confident” versus 42% globally. Their optimism is even greater when looking at a three-year horizon, with 50% in CEE and 53% globally saying they’re confident in their company's growth.

What is also interesting in this year’s results, is the CEOs’ strong determination to seize opportunities for transformation in response to crises and threats, with 45% saying that their companies won’t be economically viable a decade from now if they continue on their current path.

We believe that the decisions that CEOs make in these moments will shape the development of their organisations, and of the region’s economies and society as a whole for the next decade or more. We are hopeful that our research will help leaders identify vulnerabilities and focus on their biggest opportunities, leading to broad, long-lasting positive change.
