Director - Investments - Bermuda/New York

Our client is a leading, NYSE-listed reinsurance company, headquartered in Bermuda. Due to continued growth, the company is looking to recruit a Director-Investments. Reporting to the Chief Investments Officer, the Director – Investments will assist the investments team in managing the asset portfolio to achieve strong risk adjusted returns. The portfolio is largely fixed income but also has exposure to private and public equities. This position will also actively contribute to asset allocation strategies and help oversee the Company’s external investment managers.


  • Contribute to and participate in Investment Allocation Committee discussions on positioning the investment portfolio from a duration, credit and sector perspective to meet our overall risk and return objectives
  • Develop asset allocation strategies in line with macroeconomic views and risk and return objectives
  • Monitor and review the positioning, performance and risk profile of our external investment managers
  • Research and develop new portfolio construction and allocation approaches to improve the overall risk-reward profile of the portfolio
  • Contribute to the process of identifying new external investment managers
  • Assist in the management, trading and portfolio construction of internally managed assets
  • Evaluate alternative investment and private equity opportunities within established risk and return constraints.
  • Collaborate with Treasury on balance sheet and liquidity management
  • Provide internal communication on the position and profile of the portfolio and financial markets developments


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited institution
  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g. CFA) is desirable
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a relevant field such as portfolio management, asset allocation, fixed income trading, strategy or risk management
  • Demonstrated strong knowledge of financial and fixed income markets
  • Proven quantitative and analytical skills
  • Strong interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative on developing new approaches and ideas
