- to ensure you have an opportunity to share experiences in an international environment;
- to expose you to the international network within the firm.
- to nurture leadership potential; and
- to give you an opportunity to develop critical business skills.
The 2007 ILS took place in CYPRUS between 7 and 11 September.
The selection criteria
Our International Leadership Summit is designed for tomorrow’s leaders. It will introduce you to business, to people like yourself from all over the world and to the culture of the country you visit. We’ll look for drive, flexibility, creativity and imagination. You should have an outstanding record of academic achievement supported by good problem solving, interpersonal and languages skills. Students in their pre-final year of study who are intending to qualify as a Chartered Accountant may apply.
- International Exchange Programme
We offer outstanding students, who have completed their undergraduate studies, the opportunity to spend one to three months as vacation students in one of our international offices.
France, Germany, Italy, Spain, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom are some of the possible destinations for this programme.
Opportunities to apply for the International Exchange Programme are dependent on the needs of our offices abroad and applications are by invitation.
- Business Orientation Programme (BOP)
The purpose of the business orientation course is to promote the accounting and auditing profession, encouraging previously disadvantaged students to follow this career and creating an awareness of the business and financial environment. The content of the programme includes an introduction to the auditing profession, the Johannesburg Securities Exchange, an introduction to computers, business etiquette, setting up a mock business, preparing for an interview and drawing up a CV.
Who can apply to attend BOP?
The target population of the course is previously disadvantaged BCom Accounting first year students and Grade 11 students. The programme is currently run in Gauteng, Bloemfontein, Port Elizabeth and the Western Cape. The timing of the course varies between regions.
The objective of the course
The objective is to enable students to understand the financial environment better, to create awareness of the various systems and structures and to provide a frame of reference for interpreting general available information, e.g the economic indicators.
We also aim to instill some curiosity in the students about the financial world and possibly convince them to become Chartered Accountants, thereby contributing to the profession. The last but not least important objective would be to identify possible African, Coloured and Asian candidates for involvement with the Firm, i.e through bursaries, continued vacation work, training and ultimately employment.
