A cybersecurity competition for undergraduate students from universities in Vietnam

Technological advancements such as Big Data, VR, IoT and mobile payments to name a few, are disrupting how companies do business and changing how individuals live their lives. However, as we continue to see cyberattacks continue to escalate in frequency, severity and impact, it is essential to maintain a focus on safeguarding our society today as well as that in the future.

Therefore our competition is not just aimed at assessing the skills and knowledge of contestants but using it as a platform to increase the competency level of Vietnam’s new talent and raising cybersecurity awareness among Vietnamese youth.

 

Competition details

  • Date: Saturday, 9/9/2017
  • Time: 8:00 to 19:00
  • Locations: To be confirmed
  • Judges: Our Cyber Security & Privacy Team
  • Prizes: One winning team will receive (1) VND 15 million and (2) a three-month internship at PwC Vietnam.

 

Content

All participating teams will join at PwC Vietnam’s offices. The competition will be organised in CTF Jeopardy style under 4 hacking categories:

  1. Reverse engineering (Reserve software, unpack…)
  2. Web (Analyse and exploit vulnerabilities on web services and program logic: SQL injection, XSS, Seasion Hijacking...).
  3. Pwnable (Exploit software).
  4. MISC (Forensic, ACM, Recon,…)

Depending on each challenge’s target, organiser will have decision on whether giving clues or not. One team with the highest score and the earliest completion time will be the winner. The organiser will announce the result and award the team winner at the end of the competition day. 

Eligibility

  1. Participants must be full-time undergraduate university students in Vietnam at the time of registration (or undergraduate students within 3 months of official graduation). The participants will join under teams. Each team must consist of 2-3 members (including Team Leader).
  2. Employees/ Collaborators/ Students working, studying, taking an internship at PwC have no right to enter the competition.
  3. Employees/ Collaborators/ Students who used to work at PwC lately within 6 months (from the time of publication of the competition) have no right to enter the competition.
  4. Members directly or partly relating to giving out the challenges for the contest have no right to enter the competition.
  5. Individuals, organisations are organiser of the contest have no right to enter the competition.

Competition rules

  1. Participants must bring their own laptops having RJ-45 Port to the contest.
  2. Any destructive attacks to score board server or other entities which are not required in the challenges,  infrastructure DOS/DDOS, impede the competition of other teams.
  3. Any flag sharing among teams will be prohibited.
  4.  Flag will be stored in the following format: PwC{(this_is_a_flag)}
  5. If there are any issues, please contact with the organiser. 
  6. All partitipants must strictly follow rules and notifications of the competition. Any breaches made by the participants, depending on the results, will be treated by the organiser. The organiser’s decision is final and no correspondence will be entered into.
  7. In case more than one team get the same highest score, team winner will be the one with the earliest completion time.
