Vietnam - Singapore Business Forum helps boost economic cooperation


PwC Vietnam on 1 December 2011 participated in the Vietnam – Singapore Business Forum as the moderator of its Financial Services section.

The Financial Services talk section included two topics: overseas listing in Singapore and raising funds in the current environment. As for overseas listing in Singapore, the listing benefits, requirements, challenges and obstacles, and listing procedures were discussed.


Mr. Tony Dang Quoc Tuan, Director of Capital Markets Services, PwC Vietnam, said, “Singapore has become one of the biggest capital markets and IPO destinations in the ASEAN Region. More and more Vietnamese enterprises are aiming at Singapore to raise funds for their needs.”


Nearly 300 companies from Vietnam and Singapore participated in the forum which lasted from 30 November to 2 December 2011 at Crowne Plaza West Hanoi Hotel. The event is hosted by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) and supported by Singapore Business Federation, International Enterprise Singapore, International Women’s Federation of Commerce and Industry, Singapore, Vietnam Association of Real Estate, Vietnam Business Forum Magazine and event organiser Salient Media.


On this occasion, leaders of the ministries of Vietnam, economic experts and Vietnam and Singapore entrepreneurs updated the macroeconomic situation and investment environment in Vietnam. Practical business opportunities and challenges of doing business in Singapore and Vietnam were shared to participants. On the second day, the forum focused on intensive panel discussions on 4 key topics including: financial services, real estate and property management services, executive education as well as manufacturing and supply chain management. In addition, participants were given the opportunity to visit several industrial zones on Day Three, including Kinh Bac Urban Development Corporation, Que Vo Industrial Park, and the Vietnam Singapore Industrial Park. The forum also featured exhibition booths by participating enterprises showcasing their achievements, products and services. Cooperation opportunities among enterprises from both countries were shared to participants.


The Vietnam-Singapore Business Forum 2011 is an annual activity, aimed to link and facilitate meetings, exchange, and share information and knowledge between the two countries. With abundant contents, important activities, the Forum is expected to be a momentous opportunity for the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
