Brian Carey is a principal based in San Jose, where he leads PwC's US Cleantech Advisory practice. He has more than 18 years of experience in market entry strategy, operational transformation, supply chain, product innovation, customer operations, and sustainability. Brian’s projects typically involve developing and implementing operational strategies aimed at helping drive top-line growth, improve margins, reduce time-to-market, and improve operational flexibility. He has also served in management roles where he has helped clients scale operations while driving quarterly financial improvements.
Brian’s focus is the cleantech, semiconductor, and electronic equipment industries. His cleantech clients include solar, wind, inverter, LED lighting, biofuels, and smart grid equipment manufacturers. Brian has also worked with companies in energy, consumer products, telecommunications, and industrial operations.
In addition to client work, Brian is a frequent speaker at cleantech events such as those hosted by AGRION, the Cleantech Open, and SVForum. He has also authored articles and been quoted in various publications, including The Economist, Forbes, PVTECH, Photovoltaics International, and Energy Intelligence Group.
Brian spent 11 years at management consulting firm PRTM prior to its acquisition by PwC in 2011. At PRTM, Brian worked with C-suite executives to lead operational transformations at Fortune 500 companies across sectors including technology. He also launched and developed PRTM’s global renewables practice.
Brian is a graduate of Cornell University with Bachelor of Science and Master of Engineering degrees in Mechanical Engineering. He received a Master of Business Administration with high distinction from the University of Michigan’s Ross Business School, where he was a fellow of the Tauber Institute for Global Operations.
