Brian Amend is a Texas-based partner, focused on delivering Internal Audit Services to product and services companies throughout the Texas region. Brian has over 20 years of professional experience in auditing, accounting, finance leadership, and enterprise risk management. Brian’s energetic, hands-on, and engaging leadership style has allowed him to successfully lead full outsource, large co-source, and strategic sourcing engagements around Internal Audit, SOX, and J-SOX for a variety of companies, ranging from start-ups and Pre-IPO, to FORTUNE 100 companies.
In addition to a strong professional services background, Brian has deep industry experience, having served as both Chief Audit Executive, where he built two Internal Audit functions from the ground up, and Chief Financial Officer. Brain has experience implementing Enterprise Risk Management programs for growing companies across all industries. A savvy and experienced communicator at all levels of business, from the Board of Directors and Audit Committee to line staff, Brian often facilitates conversations between different levels of the business to help companies communicate more effectively. In 2009, Brian was selected as one of the “Top 40 Business Professionals under 40 Years Old” by the Dallas Business Journal.
Brian is actively involved with the Dallas Chapter of the Institute of Internal Auditors, serving as the Chapter President in 2011-2012, and on the Board of Governors from 2008 to 2014. He is an accomplished and frequent speaker for many associations and has authored methodologies and thought leadership pieces relating to internal audit and risk management topics.
Brian is CPA in the states of Texas and Oklahoma and a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Brian is also a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certified Financial Services Auditor (CFSA), Certified Investments and Derivatives Auditor (CIDA), and is certified in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA) and Control Self-Assessment (CCSA). Brian has also received Accreditation in Quality Assurance Reviews from the Institute of Internal Auditors, and has passed examinations for the following NASD Brokers’ Licenses: Series 7, 66, 24, and 27. Brian has earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting with High Honors from the University of Oklahoma and his MBA in Finance, Summa Cum Laude, from Oklahoma City University.
