AUSTIN, September 25, 2012– PwC US today announced that Eric Hornsten, a 20-year veteran of the firm, has been appointed as managing partner for its Austin office. Hornsten will focus on serving PwC's diverse client base in the greater Austin market while supporting the growth and development of PwC's talent in the Austin office. He succeeds Jim French, who will be returning to PwC’s San Jose office to work in the National Professional Services group.
"Eric's broad range of experience in helping companies at all stages of development, from FORTUNE 500 corporations to growing venture capital-backed companies, makes him a natural choice to lead PwC Austin into the future," said Tom Codd, PwC's North Texas Managing Partner. "Eric's wide range of client and leadership experiences will serve him well in taking on this important role for our market and the firm.”
Prior to assuming his new role, Hornsten served as an assurance partner in PwC's National Professional Services Group in San Jose, CA, where he worked with clients on complex accounting and reporting matters in areas such as revenue recognition and stock-based compensation.
Prior to his role in the National Professional Services group, Hornsten served clients in the San Jose and San Diego offices where he worked with a variety of public and private clients, providing advice on SEC reporting issues, IPOs, adoption of new accounting standards, internal control related matters and strategic acquisition and financing transactions.
Commenting on his strategic vision for the practice, Hornsten said, “Austin has such a wonderful business environment that embodies the entrepreneurial spirit. PwC has such a great story to tell here, and I’m pleased to be leading a group of professionals who exemplify the PwC values each and every day. I’m proud to once again call Austin my home and look forward to growing our office as we continue to provide high quality services to our clients."
Horsten is a Certified Public Accountant in Texas and California and is a member of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants, the California State Society of Certified Public Accountants and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He received a Bachelor's degree in Business with high honors as well as a Master’s in Professional Accounting from the University of Texas at Austin.
