Donation underscores firm’s commitment to supporting the Tampa Bay community
Tampa Bay, FL, December 21, 2011 - Today PwC US announced that it is donating $75,000 to 14 Tampa Bay charities as part of its annual holiday giving campaign.
Donations, which range from $2,500-$10,000, will benefit a diverse group of organizations that serve children and community needs, including The Salvation Army, Boys and Girls Clubs of Tampa Bay, A Brighter Community, and Hillsborough Achievement and Resource Centers. Tampa-based PwC employees selected recipient charities based on their ability to serve an immediate need within the community, their alignment with the Firm's national commitment around youth education and developing future leaders, and their overall history with the Firm.
"Tampa is not just where we work—it is where our families and colleagues call home,” said Mike Quackenbush, managing partner of PwC's Tampa practice office. “Giving is a part of our culture. The Firm and our people are hopeful that through these donations, we can make our community a bit brighter this holiday season.”
These donations build upon the Firm’s overall commitment to supporting the Tampa Bay community. This year, 500 PwC staff in the Tampa Bay offices gave 3,500 hours of volunteer time to helping Tampa Bay charities as part of Firm-wide and local events. Additionally, they donated more than $175,000 to the United Way and other charities as part of the annual giving campaign.
