Airlines: An evolving industry

With the industry rapidly evolving, and the global business environment remaining unpredictable, airline executives face surmounting pressure to reassess strategies related to their companies' operations, growth, competitiveness, and profitability. Among the critical issues they are having to address are: increases in expenses related to fuel, fleet maintenance, stricter safety and security standards; new initiatives for driving customer satisfaction and loyalty; leveraging technology to improve operational efficiencies and cut costs; expanding globally through mergers and acquisitions; and preparing for potential regulatory and legislative changes, such as those related to tax reform and the joint FASB/IASB accounting standards.

Those airlines that maintain an innovative, long-term view of the challenges and opportunities ahead, and take the time now to prepare, will likely gain a marketplace advantage.
