CBP Raises Informal Entry Limit and Removes Formal Entry Requirement Easing Barriers to International E-Commerce

On December 6, 2012 U.S. Customs and Border Protection ("CBP") issued a final rule that raises the “informal entry” value limit to $2,500 (from $2,000) for most consumer goods and eliminates the $250 informal entry value limit for specific articles previously subject to absolute quota restrictions under the Agreement on Textiles and Clothing.
