In February 2009, the PwC GRC webcast series explored the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) voluntary private sector preparedness accreditation and certification program, commonly referred to as "PS-Prep".
PS-Prep is a voluntary program that encourages companies to develop or enhance their business continuity plans and overall preparedness programs. Organizations can elect to certify that they meet the standards for preparedness under the program thereby increasing the quality and consistency of these programs across all types of organizations.
There are currently no direct financial incentives to undergo the certification process. However, it is expected that for certain customers, business partners, vendor relationships and industry sectors, PS-Prep will become a de facto requirement.
This document outlines the provisions of the PS-Prep program.
