Guidance issued notice to employees on health insurance exchanges

HRS Insight

Beginning January 1, 2014, individuals will be eligible to buy health insurance through a new public health insurance market (the Marketplace, also known as exchanges). Starting in October 2013, employers are required to give employees a notice describing coverage options available through the Marketplace. The Department of Labor (DOL) has issued model notices and related guidance to employers on what must be included in the notice and how to give it to employees. Information on the Marketplace must also be included in COBRA notices.
