At a glance

In the first quarter of 2014, the total volume of deals remained consistent with the same period in 2013; however, the value of announced deals rose 152% to $12.3 billion. There remains optimism that larger deal sizes may represent a renewed confidence as the dust settles from the implementation of the ACA's Insurance Exchanges. Our outlook for hospital deal activity in 2014 remains optimistic as the impetus for greater alignment and size remains unchanged.
