The annual cost of brain disease in 2012
PwC estimates that the annual medical and long-term care costs of brain disease in the United States were about $476 billion in 2010. More than half of this estimate derives from costs of treating other medical conditions, which are more common and more costly among people with brain disease. PwC also estimated the other non-medical costs associated with brain diseases based on an extrapolation of those costs from the European Study and found that the other non-medical costs are likely to be of similar magnitude to the annual medical and long-term care costs.
