Why did PwC develop the Medical Technology Innovation Scorecard?

An intense but often anecdotal debate has raged between the industry and policymakers. It has lacked objective measures of what shapes an innovation ecosystem — metrics that can inform the dialogue about a country’s regulatory and economic policies, its approach to healthcare payment and reimbursement, and its access to innovative healthcare technologies.

This tool could help the industry, patient advocacy groups, regulators, ministers of health, and other government and business leaders recognize and understand the evolving global transformation that is occurring in the medical technology industry. PwC hopes that the Innovation Scorecard also will help medical device companies identify product development, manufacturing, and commercialization opportunities so they can expand and adapt their reach to new patients in a market without borders.
