The Financial Reporting Executive Committee (FinREC) is the AICPA's senior technical committee for financial reporting. Its mission is to determine the AICPA's technical policies regarding financial reporting standards and to be the AICPA's spokesbody on those matters, with the ultimate purpose of serving the public interest by improving financial reporting.
American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA)

Center for Audit Quality (CAQ)

Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF)
The Emerging Issues Task Force (EITF) was formed in 1984 in response to the recommendations of the FASB's task force on timely financial reporting guidance and an FASB Invitation to Comment on those recommendations. The mission of the EITF is to assist the FASB in improving financial reporting through the timely identification, discussion, and resolution of financial accounting issues within the framework of existing authoritative literature.
Federal Accounting Standards Advisory Board (FASAB)
The FASAB promulgates federal accounting standards after considering the financial and budgetary information needs of citizens, congressional oversight groups, executive agencies, and the needs of other users of federal financial information.
Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB)
The FASB establishes and improves standards of financial accounting and reporting for the guidance and education of the public, including issuers, auditors and users of financial information.
Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB)
The GASB establishes and improves the standards of state and local governmental accounting and financial reporting that results in useful information for users of financial reports. The GASB guides and educates the public, including issuers, auditors, and users of those financial reports.
International Accounting Standards Board (IASB)
Effective 1 April 2001, the IASB assumed accounting standard setting responsibilities from its predecessor body, the International Accounting Standards Committee. This was the culmination of a restructuring based on the recommendations of the report Recommendations on Shaping IASC for the Future.
International Federation of Accountants (IFAC)
The IFAC is the global organization for the accountancy profession. It works with its 158 member organizations in 118 countries to protect the public interest by encouraging high quality practices by the world's accountants. IFAC publishes standards and technical guidance, as well as studies, discussion papers, reports and a newsletter.
Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB)
The PCAOB is a private-sector, non-profit corporation, created by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, to oversee the auditors of public companies in order to protect the interests of investors and further the public interest in the preparation of informative, fair, and independent audit reports. The SEC appoints the chairman and members of the PCAOB.
Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC)
The SEC is the primary overseer and regulator of the U.S. securities markets. The SEC also oversees other key participants in the securities world, including stock exchanges, broker-dealers, investment advisors, mutual funds, and public utility holding companies.
U.S. Government Accountability Office (GAO)
