The 2011 AICPA National Conference on Current SEC and PCAOB Developments (the Conference) was held on December 5, 6, and 7, 2011. Similar to prior years, the Conference hosted representatives from regulators and standard setters, along with auditors, users, preparers, and industry experts who expressed views on a wide range of important accounting, auditing, and financial reporting topics.
The overarching theme of this year's Conference was the investor as the beneficiary of financial reporting and the roles of management, the audit committee, and the auditor in the financial reporting process. This theme was covered by many of the speakers in the context of improving audit quality and in discussing management’s and the audit committee's responsibilities to provide disclosures that are relevant and transparent. We provide you highlights of the topics discussed at the Conference in this Dataline.
