Cleantech MoneyTree™ Report: Q2 2012 Venture funding summary

Venture capitalists invested $1.0 billion in 55 Cleantech deals during the second quarter of 2012, according to findings from the MoneyTree™ Report by PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP and the National Venture Capital Association, based on data from Thomson Reuters.

Cleantech funding declined 11 percent and deals were down 42 percent compared to the second quarter of 2011. Average deal size was $18.9 million, an increase of 50 percent year-over-year, due to four deals in excess of $60 million each. Three deals topped $100 million each, making them the three largest venture capital investments across all industries for the second quarter of 2012.
