2011 SEC comment letter trends for the power and utilities industry
Most reporting entities in the power and utilities industry are getting ready to prepare their 2011 year-end financial statements. A key consideration in the reporting process is ensuring meaningful and transparent financial information is provided to investors. To assist reporting entities in meeting that challenge, we have prepared the attached 2011 SEC comment letter trends for the power and utilities industry. This publication is based on our review of industry related comment letters on Form 10-Ks and Form 10-Qs published in 2011.In addition to the SEC comment letter survey, PwC has analyzed select critical accounting policies, estimates and other financial reporting trends of public entities in the industry. The 2011 power and utilities reporting survey highlights trends in key areas of reporting for the industry and comprises an analysis of 73 electric, gas, water and diversified reporting entities' SEC filings for the year-end period closest to December 31, 2010. Selected results from this survey have also been included in the SEC comment letter trends document.
