Working here

As a member of a PwC team, expect to be focused on client service. PwC works hard to serve our clients year-round. You'll grow as part of a team, continually taking on increased responsibilities. At times, there will be long hours. However, you'll be working closely with clients and peers, gaining knowledge and experience. Your opportunities for flexibility will grow as your time with the firm increases.

Work experiences

We have a constantly changing environment with multiple teams and client assignments throughout the year. Some client experiences are more challenging than others. Your exposure to premier clients across industries will give you significant opportunities to learn about their businesses and develop relationships.

Tasks to be encountered

Tasks that you'll perform as a newer associate are different from those of managers and partners, but vital to PwC's success. In addition, review of your work gives you exposure to seniors, managers, and partners. The variety of tasks you'll experience during the first few years will enable you to gain a greater understanding of the business.

Formal/informal coaching and mentoring

Take advantage of the coaching, mentoring, and experiences of more senior team members. You should be proactive, solicit help from others, build relationships, take initiative, and ask for more responsibility. Seek out continuous learning experiences in all situations.

Specialization

As your career progresses toward the manager level, you will have the opportunity to become specialized. In addition, you may have the ability to move around the firm over the long term. PwC will want to leverage your expertise, which may limit your project diversity. You may have the opportunity to be exposed to many clients but will generally focus on a particular industry.

Responsibilities

You will be given distinct tasks and responsibilities early on. As you advance, your responsibilities will increase, and you will become a leader and decision maker with more interesting assignments and tasks. Your responsibilities are earned through your performance. Attitude and desire to contribute to your client teams are factors in your success.

Ongoing development

You'll get continuing on-the-job guidance. Your seniors, managers, and partners set expectations for you. PwC has significant resources at your disposal. Resources are there to help you develop, but you must be proactive, identify new areas for learning, and keep a positive attitude to be successful.

Work hours

There are no standard hours. Work isn't the same day to day. Hours beyond client service are also part of PwC life (training, recruiting, office meetings, social activities, sports teams, community service, travel time, etc.) Schedules are unpredictable and change frequently. Longer workdays, which are part of our business, will vary by person based on deadlines and client demands throughout the year. PwC bills clients for the hours worked by our people. Goals are set for you based on expected hours worked for clients.

Workload

We have a constantly changing environment, multiple teams and client assignments throughout the year. Some client experiences are more challenging than others are. Your exposure to premier clients across industries will give you significant opportunities to learn about their businesses and develop relationships.

Flexibility

Your needs for flexibility require communication and agreement with team members. Our business is serving clients. Client demands can limit flexibility. Work-life balance is measured in the long -term (yearly/monthly), not the short -term (daily/weekly).

Programs and benefits

Firmwide programs and benefits are available surrounding work-life balance. As you advance in the firm, you will gain more control and flexibility; it is not always immediate.
