Melanie Brown's journey to Argentina
International Intern Experience
The International Intern Experience offers select interns the opportunity to immerse themselves in PwC's global network of firms. This past summer Melanie Brown, an intern from the New York office, traveled to Buenos Aires, Argentina for her International Intern Experience. Hear from Melanie as she describes how the experience helped her grow both professionally and personally.
Paul Estep - Budapest
International Intern Experience
Looking back at his International Intern Experience, Paul Estep knows how lucky he was to have such a great opportunity. As an intern working out of the Houston Market with PwC US, Paul was able to spend a week in Budapest working alongside his PwC Hungary colleagues on an audit for one of the office's largest European clients. It was also Paul's time outside of the office when he was able to immerse himself in the local culture that made his experience so memorable. When Paul was not working he was spending time exploring the city and taking in the delicious Hungarian cuisine and rich architecture. For Paul, nothing could have prepared him for his experience in Budapest. This experience, as Paul notes, helped him grow both personally and professionally in a way he could not have imagined when he started his internship.
Jessica Chung - Amsterdam
International Intern Experience
The International Intern Experience at PwC allows interns the opportunity to explore new cultures, make life-long friends, and enjoy new challenges. For Jessica Chung, an intern from the Pacific Northwest Market, it was an eye opening experience to spend a week in PwC Netherlands and the Amsterdam office. The experience opened Jessica's eyes to the boundless opportunities one has when working in the PwC global network. Working abroad, even though it was only a week, gave Jessica the chance to form new relationships, learn about a new culture, and get a better understanding of PwC's global mobility program. Upon returning home from Amsterdam Jessica only had one thing to tell her team, "Thank you so much for this opportunity."
Lindsey Mann - Amsterdam
International Intern Experience
When Lindsey Mann, an intern from the Atlanta Market, arrived in Amsterdam she didn't know what to do first. This trip was going to introduce her to a culture, a language, and a working environment that she had never experienced before. Luckily she had her host and current US assignee waiting to help her every step of the way. As part of PwC's International Intern Experience, each selected intern is matched with a current US assignee abroad to help that intern experience life inside PwC. For Lindsey the experience was no different. Lindsey and her host explored the city together, immersed themselves in the Dutch culture, and even helped on the audit of one of PwC Netherlands clients. Lindsey knew that the experience was going to be unique, but she never expected to be a more well-rounded professional because of it.
Anabel De la Rosa - London
International Intern Experience
Excited would be an understatement when describing how Anabel felt after learning that she would be traveling to London as part of PwC's International Intern Experience. Anabel, an intern from the Florida Market, hadn't even graduated from college yet and she was already getting the opportunity to work abroad. The experience was nothing short of amazing for Anabel. By day Anabel was working on assignments with her new colleagues and by night she was exploring the city of London and its rich culture with those same colleagues. As Anabel will tell anyone, you can only learn so much from a textbook. It was the experience she had while in London that truly challenged her and helped her to prepare for her future after college.
Ryan Lelache - London
International Intern Experience
Ryan Lelache had never been outside of the United States before stepping off the plane in London. For an intern working out of Philadelphia Metro Market, this was going to be an experience like no other. Having not participated in an internship before, Ryan was a little nervous that his time in London would be spent entirely inside the PwC UK office staring at his computer screen. Ryan quickly learned that was not the case at all, as he quickly developed professional relationships with his colleagues and spent time socializing outside of the office as well. Within the first few days working in London, Ryan and his team had ridden the London Eye, dined in some of the city's finest restaurants, and explored the streets of Central London. For Ryan the experience was not only about learning the accounting profession first hand, but also getting to enjoy himself in a culture he had never before experienced. Working abroad in London was an experience that Ryan says he will never forget.
Bryce Armbruster - London
International Intern Experience
When Bryce Armbruster, an intern from the OKI (Ohio/Kentucky/Indiana) Market, accepted his internship offer with PwC US he didn't expect to be lawn bowling, at the British Open watching the world's top golfers compete, or cheering on the Fulham football club from their home stadium. But then again Bryce didn't expect to be in PwC UK and the London office for part of his internship. As part of Bryce's internship with PwC he got to take part in the International Intern Experience. Not only did Bryce get to explore the great city of London, but he worked side by side with his English colleagues conducting research for an aerospace & defense client, a press release for a pharmaceutical client, and an acquisition for a market research & consulting firm. Bryce describes his experience as life-changing and one that he feels will do wonders for his career in the profession.
Melissa Barringer - Hong Kong
International Intern Experience
As Melissa Barringer can tell you, Chicago and Hong Kong are very different. In Chicago the local food is deep dish pizza and in Hong Kong it is dim sum. As an intern coming from the PwC US, Chicago Market, Melissa very much looked forward to exploring a culture she knew little about. But more importantly Melissa looked forward to exploring a style of business that she had only read about in text books. The experience of getting to take part in PwC's International Intern Experience was truly life-changing for Melissa. Not only did she get to explore a culture of food that she had never imagined she would experience, but she had the opportunity to learn the accounting profession first hand from her PwC Hong Kong colleagues. Having the opportunity to work on clients in the local market and learning from those around her was unmatched to anything else Melissa could have spent her summer doing.
