When you join PwC, you are joining a powerful network that can support you throughout your career, no matter where it takes you.

When you join PwC, you are joining a powerful network that can support you throughout your career, no matter where it takes you..

Each year, a select number of the firm's top performers are invited to join the partnership, a group of individuals who, as owners of the firm, are ultimately responsible for its long-term growth and excellence.
While many people aspire to enter the partnership, we recognize that it is not for everyone either because of a personal situation, a personal preference or the business environment. However, the firm values the contribution of career contributors who have the experience, the knowledge, the drive and the commitment to deliver for our clients and for our firm.

For example, the firm has in place a Managing Director position. The position is designed to recognize the strongest, highest-quality performers.

The concept of the career contributor in all our lines of service is an important part of our business. It demonstrates that there is a role for people who continue to add significant value to their practice or function, a role where they can continue to make those contributions without the pressure of promotion.
Whether you work here five years or two decades, you'll gain experience that will make you more valuable in the marketplace. We recognize that not everyone will spend his or her entire career with PwC. Because of this, we want to be actively engaged in an ongoing dialogue with you to help determine when may be the right time for you to leave. But our strong alumni network allows everyone who has spent time here to maintain a relationship with the firm as well as the contacts they've made here.
As your career progresses, more and more of your success will come from your ability to manage large projects, lead others, and succeed as a team. Leadership only comes from experience-experience you can find here every day. Some examples of the formal and informal leadership opportunities you might encounter are:
  • Leading client engagements or pieces of client engagements
  • Leading internal or external project teams
  • Facilitating learning and education programs for PwC staff members
  • Coaching and/or mentoring less experienced staff members
  • Assuming leadership roles in professional associations such as the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants or the Society for Human Resources Management
  • Leading office-wide sports teams, participating on holiday party committees or running community service activities
At PwC, we invest over $190 million in the learning and education of our people.

Learning is an essential part of your career. There isn't a day that will go by without you learning something from a client, a colleague, or a formal program.

No matter where you are in your career, you will find the accelerated training and coaching experiences you need to be successful and stay up to date.

Organized programs and informal opportunities to help you become a better and more valuable professional.

We offer nearly 5,000 distinctive training programs and an equivalent number of self-study programs to further develop your skills and expand your knowledge base through a wide range of programs and resources that can be tailored to your needs.
Our core programs offer the kind of focused learning that is critical to your professional development. Through classroom training, e-learning, and collaborative learning, you have the ability to gain the technical skills necessary to meet professional requirements, understand new accounting and tax pronouncements and develop a true depth and breadth of expertise. In addition, other programs are specifically designed to develop your interpersonal and business skills, such as negotiation, executive presence, oral and written communication, coaching, problem solving and leadership abilities.
Through the use of a user-friendly learning system called Learning at PwC, you will have a "one-stop shop" for managing your learning activity. This integrated system makes it easy to find course information, register quickly, receive confirmation, book travel and hotels, and track your learning activity and compliance with continuing professional education requirements.
The working environment and coaching culture at PwC are designed to empower you to learn. Integrating coaching into the way we work every day enables continuous learning and development. Coaching combined with mentoring, professional development programs and concrete on-the-job application of skills will enable you to strengthen your experience and abilities.

Signature programs are comprehensive, engaging, residential programs that are offered during advancement milestones or at annual or biannual industry or line of service conferences. These programs are opportunities for you to learn valuable skills, network with colleagues and interact with leadership directly.

This eight-day course is designed specifically for the experienced hire joining the Assurance practice. The cornerstone of this training is the PwC Audit Methodology and working practices needed to carry out the PwC client service role. While engaged in client scenarios, participants will practice with Firm tools, such as MyClient, Comperio, Template Manager, Automated Disclosure Checklist, and Accounting, Auditing, SEC Developments (AASD), to ensure a level of comfort and confidence on the job. Firm initiatives, including workplace inclusiveness, coaching, mentoring and diversity are also discussed with experiences shared amongst the participants. Assurance START is held monthly for all experienced hire staff levels.

Coaching is a developmental partnership based on shared responsibility between coaches and coachees. It's designed to promote and support the individuals' professional development and personal achievement.

Formal coaching is done with a single coach to whom you've been assigned. This coach will work with you on your career development. Ideally, it's someone you can trust to look out for you and help you. It could be help on a technical issue, a client service issue or even a personal issue.

The firm presents many challenging opportunities — to take on new responsibilities. Coaching helps people to feel comfortable in taking on those challenges and to stretch and grow the right way.
A coaching culture goes beyond formal relationships. It's about how we interact with each other every day. Everyone at PwC is both a coach and a coachee.

Informal coaching is day after day, all the time. As you start to build your network within the firm, you are encouraged to seek out new coaches to help you work through a problem or achieve their goals.

You might have ten informal coaches. It may be something as simple as who you ask for advice. It could be anyone: someone more experienced who's been through what you're going through before, or a peer whose advice you trust.

As people coach, and accept being coached, they're able to really appreciate the amount of time and emphasis that everybody within the firm spends on each other. It's an important demonstration of the firm's commitment to people's long-term professional and personal growth.
The firm is also taking steps to create a stronger bridge between staff and partners. To ensure that we're listening and responding to the full spectrum of people's needs, Relationship Partners — either a partner or a managing director — reach out to each staff member. The purpose is to get to know each individual as a person and to help them better connect with the firm. We want to build communication between our staff and the firm's leaders to benefit both our people and the firm.
