What is PwC's China Sourcing Initiative (CSI)?

China recorded a foreign direct investment of US$111 billion in 2012. It is the No.1 holder of foreign reserves and exporter, and the 2nd largest economy in the world. In 2010, China became the world’s biggest initial public offering market and the Shanghai Stock Exchange was the 5th largest stock market in the world. Such rapid economic growth and prospering business opportunities have turned China into one of the world’s most prominent and exciting markets. If you’re interested in the opportunities that China has to offer as the starting point of your global career, then PwC China is where you should go.
Hong Kong is ideally positioned at the southern tip of China and at the center of the rapidly developing East Asia. It is an important hub for trade between mainland China and the rest of the world. In 2012, the value of goods re-exported through Hong Kong from and to mainland China was US$391.8 billion, accounting for 90% of Hong Kong’s total re-export trade value. It is the world’s 9th largest trading entity in goods, 8th largest importer and 10th largest exporter. As the 6th largest stock exchange in the world and the 2nd largest in Asia, it’s also been ranked the freest economy in the world for 19 consecutive years in the US Heritage Foundation’s 2013 Index of Economic Freedom.

Learning from challenging projects
I studied in the US. After graduation, I decided to start my career at PwC China in Shanghai to take advantage of the challenging work environment and on-going learning opportunities. For example, I had the opportunity to work with the Assurance team for a major client. I honed my technical skills on taxation, risk management and information technology. I also had to liaise and communicate with people across different departments. During that year, I took on many challenging projects. Working in this dynamic environment, I learned fast and became more efficient both professionally and personally.
