Fund of funds valuation

This podcast discusses an area of focus since the release of FASB Statement No. 157 in 2007 - the valuation of investments in hedge funds, private equity funds, or similar alternative investment funds by a fund-of-funds, or any other holder (such as a pension plan, endowment, or non-profit), especially when the investee fund doesn't provide daily redemption privileges.

The podcast begins with a brief discussion of the history of the valuation of investments in alternative investment funds. We then discuss the highlights of the recently-issued draft AICPA Issues Paper that was developed in response to investors' requests for help in thinking through the factors they needed to consider to apply FAS 157 to these investments. Please listen in to hear the latest on this important topic.
