A large communications company moves from federated Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) to integrated processes.
One of the world’s largest communications companies had grown rapidly through acquisition and had many strong business units that used a federated approach to financial planning and analysis (FP&A). As a result, the company faced challenges pulling together an integrated financial plan that synchronized short-term bottoms-up business unit financial plans with long-term top-down corporate financial plans.
PwC business consultants engaged both corporate and business unit finance teams to develop a new operating model to support a three year and ten year financial planning process. Oracle Hyperion Planning application was implemented to support the new process.
By using Oracle technology to deliver integrated driver-based planning models that linked business unit plans with corporate finance planning the client was able to dramatically decrease the effort involved in developing plans and spend more time in fruitful dialog about the business drivers such as customer volumes, network capacity, manpower and capital.
