Maria Castañón Moats is the firm’s Chief Diversity Officer (CDO). Maria joined the firm in 1994 and became a partner in 2004. She is an Assurance partner who has worked in the National Professional Services Group (NPSG) in Florham Park, and several other PwC offices, including Dallas and El Paso. Prior to her two-year tour in NPSG, she served as the engagement leader on several large Fortune 500 Retail & Consumer (R&C) companies and multinational Industrial Products clients in Dallas.
Appointed as the CDO in June 2011, Maria is responsible for overseeing the firm's diversity strategy. PwC is known as a top company for diversity, receiving high rankings and awards from DiversityInc magazine, Working Mother magazine, the Human Rights Campaign Foundation and the Great Place to Work Institute, among others. In addition to her role as the CDO, Maria is the engagement leader on a New Jersey-based R&C client.
Maria is a graduate of the University of Texas at El Paso and is a licensed CPA in Texas, New Jersey and New York. She is a dedicated board member for the March of Dimes and an advocate of children's adoptions. Maria is a first-generation Mexican American and speaks Spanish fluently. She lives in New York with her husband and two children.
