Laura Cox Kaplan is the firm's US Government, Regulatory Affairs and Public Policy Leader, a position she assumed in 2004. She also serves as Treasurer of the US firm’s Political Action Committee.
Prior to joining PwC, Laura served at the US Securities & Exchange Commission as a senior advisor to the Chairman, directing legislative, public and intergovernmental affairs and providing strategic counsel in these areas. She also served as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Banking and Domestic Finance in the Office of Legislative Affairs at the US Department of the Treasury. Earlier in her career, she was Vice President for Strategic Policy Communications, Government and Regulatory Affairs at Instinet Corporation, an electronic brokerage firm. Laura also spent eight years working on Capitol Hill.
Laura serves on the AICPA's Federal Legislative Task Force, coordinating tactical strategies for shaping legislative policy that impacts the accounting profession. She received a master’s degree from American University in Washington, DC and a bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas in Austin. Laura and her husband live with their son and daughter in Washington, D.C.
