Corporate responsibility: Community
Community
PwC cares about the communities in which our people live and work. In communities nationwide, our focus is on "developing future leaders." We believe that education is the foundation for community development as it provides growth opportunities for the young, advances future leaders and further develops the growing population of quality professionals who can support the increasingly complex business issues in the marketplace. Our people share a common purpose: to help inspire positive, lasting change.
This is how our Corporate Responsibility efforts support our local communities:
- From July 2008 to June 2009, our firm and our people together donated $30 million and 134,000 hours to the community.
- Annually, our firm sponsors the Summer of Community Service, where thousands of our partners and staff donate their time and skills to their local communities
- We contributed more than $9.6 million to the United Way in fiscal year 2009.
- We are committed to developing the next generation of leaders, and have formed strategic partnerships with the MIND Institute and Be The Change, Inc.
- We support inner-city youth education through the Impact program.
- PwC member firms around the world and the people of PwC have contributed more than $4 million to the assistance efforts in Darfur, helping to build schools for children and provide them with books, uniforms and well-trained teachers.
- In 2008 and 2009, we donated $1.5 million to our local communities each year in lieu of holiday parties.
