About this Report

Welcome to the first Corporate Responsibility (CR) report for the US firm of PwC. This report serves to communicate the actions we take as responsible leaders -- how we deliver value and quality to clients and how we make a difference for our people in the communities where we live and work -- and to address the many inquiries we receive from stakeholders about our social and environmental performance.

We aligned our approach to this report to the core principles of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) framework, an internationally recognized reporting guideline that promotes a standardized approach to the reporting of environmental, social and governance performance in an organization. As the GRI Framework outlines, context is critical when reading a CR report and we have tried to provide it within this report. For example, the fact that we are a privately held partnership that operates as part of a network of firms globally, is critical to understand since it affects the boundaries of our reporting. Further, as a professional services firm that does not manufacture goods, but delivers services, there are a unique set of issues material for us to report.

Over the last four years, we have undergone a robust process crafting and implementing our strategy, of determining the materiality of our impact, and measuring our progress. This report is the result of that effort and was created to give both a quantitative and qualitative snapshot of our CR performance. Our goal is for the reader to understand who we are as a firm, the ways in which our values and responsibilities are acted upon in the daily service of our clients, our relationships with our people and our outreach to the community, and how we are improving in measurable ways. We are energized at our progress to date and the steps our partners and staff continue to take to support social and environmental sustainability in the marketplace and in the communities in which we operate.
