Do you need a Work Permit?

Work Permit applications are now closed

Graduate Programmes

Work Permit applications will be accepted from 1st October 2008.

Please note that from Autumn 2008, the Tier 2 Skilled Workers of the new Points Based System will replace the current Work Permit Scheme. Instead of "work permits" being issued by the Home Office, approved licensed employers will issue "Certificates of Sponsorship".

The UK firm welcomes individual applications from all over the world. However, the number of work permit applications we are allowed to process each year is limited, and this varies from year to year according to UK labour market conditions. Our work permit scheme is always heavily oversubscribed and vacancies fill up very early in the recruitment season.

Some of our graduate schemes, Business Recovery Services, Corporate Finance, Performance Improvement Consulting, Data Assurance, Technology Assurance and Strategy cannot consider applications at any time from candidates who require permission to work in the UK.

Please note that employers are required by law to confirm that their employees are eligible to work in the UK, and this check is carried out on the first day at work, if not before.

We normally expect people joining our graduate programmes to be eligible to complete a three-year training period and we require people entering our work permit scheme to hold full Certificates of Sponsorship and relevant entry clearance, which will be applied for by the firm. Accordingly, we will not normally recruit people on the basis of current work permits that are valid for less than three years.

Internships & placements

We cannot obtain work permits for internships and fixed-term placements. However, if you're an overseas national in full-time education in the UK, current regulations allow that you don't need a work permit for these.

Work permit Frequently Asked Questions:

Will the new Work Permit changes this Autumn affect me?

We don't expect the new work permit process to affect the way we deal with our applications from international students.

When is the deadline for work permit applications?

There is no deadline for work permit applications. However, early application is strongly advised due to the limited number of places we can offer each year. Historically we have closed the window at the end of November but we're expecting this will close even earlier this year.

Which schemes can I apply for?

We can only obtain work permits for full time graduate roles. However, if you're in full time education at a UK Institute you can apply to one of our INSIGHT placement schemes.

Which areas of the business do not accept work permit applications?

Some of our graduate schemes cannot consider applications at any time from candidates who require permission to work in the UK. These areas are:

  • Business Recovery Services
  • Corporate Finance
  • Data Assurance
  • Forensic Services
  • Performance Improvement Consulting
  • Strategy
  • Technology Assurance

Can I apply stating that I don't require a work permit if I have a 2 year working visa?

No. You must select that you need a work permit. We expect people joining our graduate programmes to be eligible to complete a three-year training period and we require people entering our work permit scheme to hold full Certificates of Sponsorship and relevant entry clearance, which will be applied for by the firm. Accordingly, we will not normally recruit people on the basis of current work permits that are valid for less than three years.
