What we do

Clients turn to PwC's Performance Improvement Consulting practice for our expertise in delivering quantifiable benefits in times of change. Our role is to create value by deploying the best mix of people, systems and technologies, to better enable those organisations to capitalise on opportunities and make change last. We do this by combining the intellect and insight of our industry-leading consulting team in designing, managing and implementing change.

Typical projects we manage - and on which you could be gaining real responsibility right from the start of your career with us - include helping our clients to:

  • Gain leverage from the intelligent use of finance to create and protect value, and identify and minimise risk - as well as developing appropriate governance and reporting systems
  • Grow and improve profitability by focusing on business efficiencies to achieve operational excellence
  • Make the best use of their people by enhancing their existing management capabilities and helping them to engage their employees in change, generating performance improvement
  • Implement and manage their employer brand through development, reward and retention strategies - vital in the face of chronic skill shortages - and through empowering HR teams to operate more effectively
  • Use innovative and powerful technology solutions for a host of purposes, from project management to finance, from risk management to data management and security.

What you'll do

One of the many factors that appeal to the people who join us is the opportunity to regularly travel and spend time on-site at clients providing hands-on support - in the UK and internationally. When you join us, you'll play a vital role in a project team, supporting the project manager with detailed research and analysis - including delivering your findings and recommendations to the team and when liaising directly with clients.

You'll soon realise the importance of your role as an associate - even at an early stage - when you quickly get genuine responsibility and find some of the sharpest minds in the consulting arena relying on your skills and judgement on projects that are always challenging.

Our culture

We want to develop you as a future leader in our business, so you'll find yourself learning enormous amounts about the issues and challenges that organisations and functional teams face in a host of industry sectors, as well as the methodologies we employ to provide them with the solutions they need.

And as many of our consultants have joined us from a diverse range of backgrounds - in addition to those who have started on our student or graduate programmes - there will be no end to the amount you can learn from the people you work alongside every day.

Change and variety are, of course, important features of life in Performance Improvement Consulting. And they're what our people thrive on - after all, change is what our business is all about.
