Our business
Our client portfolio is incredibly diverse. As the Thames Valley is a major centre for technology, we work with many organisations in that sector, from entrepreneurial start-ups to multinational blue-chips. We're trusted advisers to a number of pharmaceutical and utility companies. We also carry out work referred to us by our US firm, many of whose clients have UK or European headquarters in the region.
As a full-service office, we have specialist teams in all business areas within Assurance, Tax, Advisory, Consulting and Strategy, and have a successful programme that allows staff to gain short-term experience in other business areas.
Enjoying PwC
Our sports and social committee, on which all departments are represented, organises regular events for all. In the last year, we've enjoyed trips to the Rugby Sevens at Twickenham, a day at Newbury races, office quizzes, ten-pin bowling evenings, wine tastings, comedy nights and a trip to the Twenty20 cricket.
For those who participate in sport, there's a touch rugby team and cricket team, as well as a five-a-side team that plays in a local corporate football league.
The office has its own dedicated community affairs team that identifies opportunities for staff to contribute to good causes, raise funds and work with local organisations. These range from education and employability initiatives, such as volunteer reading with local schools, to practical work with a local wildlife trust. Staff have also hosted a Dragon's Den-style event for senior school pupils to help them prepare for business careers.
The Thames Valley is one of the UK's most dynamic regions, and offers huge potential for PwC to continue growing its dominant market share across all lines of services - creating superb opportunities for students and graduates who join us in 2009 to take advantage of excellent career prospects. It enjoys proximity to London (being just 20 minutes by train), whilst being at the centre of the beautiful countryside of Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordhsire and Hampshire. With an enormous variety of work, high-calibre colleagues and clients ranging from prestigious corporates to thriving owner-managed businesses, PwC Reading offers an excellent platform from which to launch your business career.
