Our Isle of Man office
The heartbeat of the Isle of Man's economy is the financial services industry which has recently been voted leading international offshore centre by the City of London. This is mirrored in our client base of banks, insurance companies, funds and captives, together with a mix of hospitality, manufacturing and retail clients. The Isle of Man is therefore uniquely placed to give you financial services experience to rival London, without the grind of the daily commute as many of our clients are within walking distance of our modern, open plan offices in the bustling capital Douglas.
We have a staff of 80 people which means that there is a lively and active social life, and yet we are still able to get to know all our graduate recruits properly as the senior management team pride themselves on their accessibility. The active Social Committee organise various events throughout the year including sailing days, golf days, entering the annual Island 'Viking Long Boat' races, fishing trips, theatre evenings, comedy club outings, trips to see local and visiting bands, Christmas parties and an annual black tie Summer Ball with live band, dinner and dancing. Additionally we enjoy excellent restaurants and a growing cafe culture gives the Island a vibrant, modern feel.
Combining opportunities for excellent international experience alongside superb facilities for golf, (there are 9 golf courses - see www.isleofmangolf.com) numerous team sports, watersports, plentiful sailing and motorsports (including the world renowned TT Races - see www.iomtt.com) together with the Arts and music the Island provides unrivalled work/life balance in a safe environment and beautiful scenery. People are extremely friendly and have time to stop and chat. The pace of life is more gentle and relaxed than living in a large city, but the financial services work experience we have to offer is top-class.
Excellent transport links make the UK and Ireland easily accessible. Flights take 40 minutes to Dublin, 20 minutes to Liverpool and 60 minutes to London City meaning that weekends can easily be enjoyed on 'the mainland' or the Emerald Isle without eating into any holiday allowance.
About the Island
The Island is a unique self-governing Crown dependency belonging to neither the UK nor the European Union. The Island is part of the British Isles but not Great Britain and it's natives are termed "Manx". They are classed politically as British but not English. The Island has it's own parliament, laws, cultures, traditions, language and currency. Although English is the recognised language and UK currency is accepted everywhere. The 'Three Legs of Man' is the Island's symbol of independence and whilst there is much debate as to which way the legs should run, (officially clockwise) the meaning is undisputed. In Latin "Quocunque Jeceris Stabit" - whichever way you throw me I will stand.
The population is approximately eighty thousand, roughly half being Manx with a varied mix of nationalities making up the remainder. This gives a uniquely safe and low-risk environment in which to live yet with a cosmopolitian atmosphere to enjoy.
