What we do

PwC's tax practices, dealing with clients of all sizes, find innovative ways to help those organisations reduce their tax burdens. By keeping pace with and understanding regularly changing tax regimes - at home and overseas - we help multinationals, UK companies, privately-owned organisations and family businesses manage their affairs efficiently.

Our teams advise a range of clients:

  • Corporate Tax - at PwC, the largest and most experienced corporate tax practice in the UK - helping companies manage and minimise their tax costs and risks
  • Indirect Tax - also the largest of its kind in the UK; looks at indirect tax implications for all our clients, including issues arising from corporate restructuring, international transactions or an e-business initiative (often working with PwC overseas offices)
  • Entrepreneurial and Private Clients (EPC) - advises on the local and overseas tax affairs of growing companies, partnerships and wealthy individuals; offers strategic consultancy advice on areas such as business analysis, working capital management and partners' profit-sharing arrangements

What you'll do

You'll have genuine responsibility from day one, with real client projects to work on. The challenge and complexity of your tasks will grow as you develop; some critical tasks you can expect to get involved in at an early stage include:

  • Helping provide bespoke tax advice to your clients
  • Working with clients and Her Majesty's Revenue and Customs to obtain information and reach conclusions on tax enquiries
  • Ensuring the tax compliance process runs smoothly
  • Planning, researching and tailoring ideas to clients' needs
  • Dealing with issues that arise in other countries, where co-ordination with our overseas network is crucial
  • Researching business issues that impact on your clients

You could be working in teams advisingsome of the world's largest multinationals, or with entrepreneurs helping them get exciting new companies off the ground. Whatever project you are involved in you'll provide advice to clients who demand the very best.

Your technical training will involve study for the ACA qualification with the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW).

You'll become adept at project management, and develop a sharp sense for identifying business development opportunities.

About you

Our work requires a range of skills, from meticulous research to intelligent analysis, from responsive prioritisation to shrewd negotiation - so we're looking for potential in a whole range of areas. To succeed, you'll need to demonstrate a passion for delivering the best for your clients, outstanding problem-solving abilities, teamwork skills, and an aptitude for dealing with complex numerical data.

As a future leader, you should demonstrate an ability to influence and inspire others.

You'll need a 2.1 degree (in any discipline) and 280 UCAS points (or equivalent).
