"Obviously, I'd heard of PwC. My impression was of a hugely successful
global firm, which, of course, is accurate. But it's infinitely
friendlier than I thought it would be. And I was surprised how committed
PwC is to nurturing dedicated people. If you put in the work and become
involved in different specialisms, the opportunities are phenomenal.
"I've got very different clients, which means very different challenges.
And because of this I'm constantly learning which is great for my
career. Like most trainees, I started out by focusing on my professional
exams. But ever since qualifying, I've been encouraged to continually
develop my skills through internal courses, on-the-job training, and
further exams.
"There's no such thing as a 'typical' project, but one that I've
recently completed centred around the tax ramifications of a client's
global restructuring. It was quite a complex challenge - involving tax,
legal and accounting issues - but a fantastic experience all the same.
And it's on projects like this that you develop the teamwork and project
management skills that are so important as your career progresses.
"We work hard at PwC, and we have a great time doing it. My colleagues
really are my friends. And we all know that this is our chance to be the
best, with the best."
